In need of additional help with Canvas?
Attend a drop-in session on Zoom.

The Assignment tool in Canvas can be used to set a reminder for students to complete their course student Feedback Forms (SFF). By creating an “ungraded” assignment, you can notify students on their “To Do” and “Calendar” features in Canvas. You will not be notified if students have completed this assignment (if set up correctly).

  1. In the “Assignment” tab of your course, select the “+ Assignment” button.

  2. Provide an “Assignment Name.”
  3. In the description textbox, provide brief instructions and the link to the SFF’s:

  4. Type “0” in the “Points” box.
  5. Assign the assignment to an “Assignment Group” (if you use Assignment Groups in your course.)
Note: If using “Assignment Groups” we recommend creating a group just for this evaluation to not impact your current grouping setup.
  6. Select “Not Graded” in the “Display Grade as” field.

  7. In the “Assign” area select the “Due”, “Available from”, and “Until” dates.
    • The “Due” and “Until” dates should be the closing date and time of your SFF’s. You must set these dates in order for students to see the Assignment on their calendar feed and “To Do” list in Canvas.

Review Temple’s Academic Calendar each semester to identify when your SFF will open and close.
